The Jon Lieberman Story
Jon’s early life growing up in Indianapolis was shaped by affluent, liberal secular Jewish parents. The hippie movement of the 1960s and an inner quest for meaning and purpose in life, created a hunger in Jon to know the truth about life’s ultimate questions. He began to question the superficial country club life and the relevance of the Reform Judaism of his youth. The fact that his father, a successful real estate developer, had little time for a relationship with his son, only deepened the emptiness he felt. At Indiana University, after a heart breaking end of a relationship with the love of his life, a Catholic girlfriend, Jon’s life went on a downward spiral of depression, drugs, and endless searching to find inner peace. Typical of most secular Jews of his day, he had no place for God or religion in his everyday life. But it was not until a Jewish fraternity brother asked him a probing question one night that Jon began his search for the meaning of life. His friend, Alan, said, “Jon, if you were to die tonight, where would you go?” Jon had absolutely no answer to that most important question. For the next 2 years Jon investigated eastern religious philosophy, the occult, and read everything he could on positive thinking and self-help books to find real happiness. As you listen to Jon’s story you will find yourself asking similar questions about the origin of life, the existence of God, and you will find yourself even wanting to know more about the greatest Jew of all time – Jesus! Jon shares his eventual encounter with God that came about in a most unexpected way – a path that would change his life forever. From California to New York ending up in the mountains of Arizona, Jon takes you on a supernatural journey meeting many remarkable people along the way that helped him think through what life is all about.
