Sidewalk Shuffle

It was bitter cold and we were concerned about Howard's health.  He doesn't look it but, Howard is in his 80s.  The team made sure he was inside whenever he was not needed. That's why  Zachary Camara helped out as a stand in.   Standing in helped the actors to have a reference point.  Zachary is 12 years old.

Sidewalk Shuffle is a story of two pastors who have a theological difference of opinion on the subject of the Holy Spirit.  Charismatic Pastor (Lorenzo Penn Jr.) is a flamboyant big man who wears his emotions on his sleeve. Presbyterian Pastor is a man who is reserved and conservative.  Presbyterian pastor is driving by and they greet each other. Charismatic Pastor is proselytizing his views on the Holy Spirit.  Charismatic Pastor loves this exchange because he is convinced that his position and insight  during their one of many short debates  is helpful to Presbyterian Pastor.  The two are interrupted by a crisis.  Old Man (Howard Farley) needs help as he collapses on the sidewalk.  What ensues is a demonstration of the two Pastors' viewpoints.

The movie is a satirical approach to the age old debate within the Christian church on the subject of the Holy Spirit.  Guy was motivated to write this story after reading Dug Down Deep, and the chapter assigned to Kingdom Pictures for film entry.  "I really connected with Joshua Harris' perspective on the subject.  I have been involved in a charismatic church where I experienced the teachings on the Holy Spirit.  The subject was new to me and I realized that there was something missing in my walk.  I can identify with both Charismatic Pastor and the Presbyterian Pastor.  I came into the faith in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. I then worshipped in an independent church that would be considered Charismatic for 3 years.  From there I worshipped in a mildly charismatic church that was somewhat balanced in their view of the subject.  Then I joined a Reformed Presbyterian church where I am currently attending.  The church which I currently attend has helped me see a different perspective on the person and work of the Holy Spirit.  The book struck a chord with me and inspired me to write this short film.  It by no means makes a definitive statement in the subject but attempts to address the issue in way that draws attention to Christ, which I believe is the Holy Spirit's work.”

The movie was something that Leslie, Guy's wife, had to persuade Guy to do.  Guy says, "I got an e-mail from someone on Facebook.  I don't even remember who it was.  The person sent me the link. I went to the site and immediately recognized the name Joshua Harris.  I filled out the application and submitted my name.  When I got the email that I had been selected to submit a film I was flattered.  It was Leslie who was most excited about making a movie.  She says "We are always excited to do projects for the Lord.  Artists need to  continually be working on something creative and I saw this as a purely creative project which we would all enjoy doing. "
