SYNOPSIS:
TAYLOR MADE was inspired by a 1962 short french film called “Rivière du hibou, La” (a.k.a. An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge) The purpose of the film was to humanized the aborted child. There are a lot of arguments about abortion on the political level and this argument clouds the fact that this is an intimate and personal situation that should not be politicized. As a story teller I wanted to tell the story of Amanda and her pregnancy. There is a Twilight Zone aspect to the film in that Amanda has a vision of the child she is about to abort. This vision changes her life. I have often heard of the emotional pain those who have gone through an abortion express. They seem to never have fully recovered from the experience. I hope that organizations that deal with women experiencing unwanted pregnancies would be able to see this film not just as a deterrent, but rather a thought provoking experience that connects them with their child.
